About

I’m a gringo married to a Mexican woman. Not only did I marry her, we’ve been able to share our love for the beautiful game in our own ways. She screams and cheers at every game and I coach and play.

I started playing soccer thanks to the craze created by the Cosmos of the 70′s. Thanks to Pele and Beckenbauer and the prolific scorer Chinaglia my father bought a leather soccer ball that looked like a brown version of a volleyball. We moved to California when I was eleven and my soccer career started. I played competitively and in High School and one of my favorite players was Paul Caligiuri, and because of him my plan was to attend UCLA… well, I ended up at CAL, so all didn’t work out to plan… sometimes plans go a different direction for the better.

After living abroad in Mexico and Italy and creating a family, I started coaching soccer. I’ve enjoyed many years of coaching and hope to do it for many, many more. My two daughters and son play now and my wife can be heard on the sideline, you’ll know her by her passionate voice yelling “quitale la pelota!!!” and her projection will surprise you for her size. She’s like an habanero, small but very, very spicy.

Over the years I’ve accumulated a few licenses and diplomas to ensure that my coaching is always improving.  I currently hold the following diplomas and licenses and will be getting more in the future:

  1. NSCAA National Diploma
  2. USSF National Youth License
  3. NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma
  4. NSCAA Junior Level IV, V Diplomas
  5. NSCAA Youth Level II Diploma
  6. NSCAA Goalkeeping Level I and II
  7. CYSA F & E License
  8. USSF Grade 8 Referee License
  9. CPR/First Aid Certificate
