U10 Wilcats are CHAMPIONS!

0

Congratulations to the U10 Wildcats who won their 3rd Bladium Indoor Soccer Championship in a row. The playoff soccer played by the Wildcats was phenomenal, as they beat La Morinda 3-1 in the semi-finals and Rockridge Sting 3-0 in the finals.

The La Morinda game got off to a slow start for the Wildcats, but they collectively roared back to control the game and posession throughout the second half. La Morinda played great soccer and moved the ball well, but the organization and team determination showed by the Wildcats captured the win.

The Rockridge Sting have always been a tough team for the Wildcats. In our earliest meetings we tied them twice and had beat them in the previous Championship game by 1 goal and in league play by 1 goal, so we knew that we were going to be challenged like never before. The game was scoreless for most of the first half as each team battled to gain posession and make something happen. The Sting controlled the ball for most of the first half, as the Wildcats played hard but on their heals. Shots were fired at our goalie, Katherine, but she made sure that we stayed in the game in an effort reminiscent of Briana Scurry of the U.S. Women’s National team.  The second half became the Wildcats half as they scored 2 goals and began to take control of the middle of the field.

Although all of the girls played exceptionally well and I have spoken to each player to let them know how well they performed, there are two players that gave all they could to the team and our effort, Katherine and Janelle. Janelle played the entirety of both games and proved why our defensive is so stalwart. Katherine demonstrated a tenacity beyond her years as she defended shot after shot. Her aggressiveness and determination not to let a goal be scored earned her our commendation and a unanimous MVP honor.

Go Wildcats!
